Terror
04/07/03

The headlines read more killed
The black type stabs my eyes
Children are crying people are dying
Terror

Explosions and smoke
Men running and people screaming
Who caused this to happen?
Terror

The sun cries and the moon trembles
And the trees stand stiff and angry
Awaiting their fate
Fire sizzles and crackles
Terror

When will it end
The nightmares the fear
The sweat drenched foreheads and dry mouths
Choking eyes stunned in death
Who really sees?
Terror

This war is a sad sad horrible thing
and politics is most ugly...terror

She Rides
04/23/03

She rides the wild horse as if
It were attached you see
The bucking and the kicking
Yet she rides alone and free

The sun is laying high
In a sultry afternoon
The horse bucks to his wild and lost
Blazing ragtime tune

But she is the conductor
The reins held tight and so
She sways with the movement
Anywhere the horse will go

The snarls and the shifting head
The tail whips and yet
She glides a flying ornament
Her brow is soaking wet

Then the moment of awakening
The rumble and the pause
Eyes once hard are softened
Just part of nature's laws

And so he stops and feels her
He knows he has become
Another horse she's conquered
In the afternoon's warm sun

Francis The Frog
07/25/03

Francis the frog sat on a log and sang a country song
Purple with spots lots lots and a tongue ten inches long
She sang of despair of having no hair she sang of rainy days
She sang of the moon and whistled a tune
And dreamt of pink mayonnaise
She sometimes would think of chocolate ink
Potatoes with sparkles of blue
She'd hop to the beat of raccoons feet
And swoon and cry at the moon
Then one day while out at play she paused by a big tree trunk
Got a kiss on the nose so the story goes
And now is an orange and green skunk
Now she just sighs and crosses her eyes her fragrance
Is roses you see
She's loved everywhere and it's true I swear
She lives with a snake in a tree...
Sometimes at night if the wind is right and the glow of the moon is fair
She sits on a limb and scratches her skin and picks out the bugs in her hair...
If this story seems all wrong don't be a frog singing country songs..

To all frogs who would like to be a prince
and all princesses who are frogs.

Reality / Fantasy

The Thrill To Quicky Gone

You seek the shadows ever close
and wish to go beyond
To feel the rush the ecstasy
The thrill too quickly gone

The voice that seems like hands that touch
Caressing deep within
You seek the grand illusion
But where do you begin

You visualize a whisper
A few hours after dawn
No ticket for tomorrow
The thrill too quickly gone

One at peace submissive
Control a special friend
But you are lost in thinking
When then will it end

For warmth of that hot glow
Turns to chill so soon
Once higher than the highest star
You tumble neath the moon

And as you fall you wonder
What the hell is going on
You thought you felt enchantment
The thrill too quickly gone

Romances Memories
08/15/03
She would say love and romance
And speak in words reflecting time passed
She would caution and smile
And proclaim the myth that all love will last

She would say love and romance
And in her heart a fire would still burn
Within her eyes a few soft tears
And you could still see how she yearns

She would say love and romance
And listen at the thunder of my tears
The tremor in my voice and heart
Listening to my even greater fears
She would say love and romance

And in those words the world would turn again
And so
I think of her in love and romance
And love her more deeply than she will ever know...

The Feeling Underneath
09/21/03

I see the Long Beach skyline
And the vertical smile of a crescent moon
The car radio is playing some crazy country tune
I heard the President's message
America is strong
The feeling underneath feels very very wrong

I watch the news reports and see the shattered lives
Remnants of the buildings
Gigantic in their size
I understand the workers all the volunteers
The feeling underneath is just cold forbidding fear

There selling flags on every street
And people want to cling
To patriotic arms stretched wide
And songs our country sings
It's like the calm is saying we
Should savor moments spent
The feeling underneath is just
Sad and discontent

I heard about the heroes in the sky before their doom
And all the faces of the men
Who laid them in their tomb
I shudder at the turban
On the face of that dark mind
The underlaying feeling
An agonizing crime

And yet I pause to wonder
Of the world that is today
Reality just numbs me in a quiet dismal way
When and how and who and where
That is to be seen
The underlaying feeling
Is a nightmare so it seems

Snowflake Memory
10/07/03
It seemed like yesterday when I
rode my sled with glee
Racing through my memories
my snowflake memory

The sky so clear
like crystal blue
as far as you could see
Mufflers mittens red cold nose
My snowflake memory

A snowman that I spoke to
he listened and he said
'There's magic in this season
in the green and in the red'

And people decorate the streets
all full of Christmas cheer
My snowflake memory so vivid
with the passing years

And all I know is that it's there
As the tree goes up
In the midst of family
Toasting with my cup

Remembering those magic times
How more joyful could it be
My life's special gift is grand
My snowflake memory...

Christmas Eve With You
01/02/04

The tree was right above us
And you lay in my arms
The night was bitter cold but you were warm
I searched your eyes the universe for stars and moon and tears
But I knew you were mine forever more
The packages were a sweet collage ribbons paper bows and yes
There was one just there for you my heart my love I must confess
The warmth of you was all I knew passion such like in a dream
Exploding with the winter wind the scattered snow by frozen streams
I heard you whisper tenderly
And the fragrance of the room framed your joyful cinnamon kiss
The wonder faded all too soon
With each Christmas I think back and wonder where you are
Sometimes I see a glimpse of you in some passionate falling star
Or maybe it is that my eyes see dimmer
And I guess that memory sustains me while alone I do my best
But the teapot is whistling and
The canned soup is on simmer a single candle burns tonight its flicker getting dimmer
But even as the darkness falls upon me
This I know the memory will brighten anywhere my soul will go

The now is all we have the moment. Life is too short but
Memories prevail long after packages and ribbons have been thrown away...
When you give your heart you give the best...

In The Crystal Night
01/12/04

In the crystal night across the velvet sky
Like thoughts of passion I recall the magic in your eyes
I remember sweet caresses
A voice so filled with calm
It lulled me so adoringly till all my fear was gone

In the crystal night in purple swirls of joy
There were aqua kisses that no one can destroys
There were fingers touching me in a moondust way
Exploding with a wonder that chased my blues away

In the crystal night if you will understand
I saw the reflection of a lonely longing man
I saw dreams of cooling blue framed in icy white
That played a melody of love that lingered through the night

In the crystal night I saw you and I knew
Why everything that happens is a dream
My heart sighed only swooning
Why can't I just awake
Why is nothing like it really seems?

Her Name Was Burning Sky
01/25/04

Her name was Burning Sky her hair was nightmare black
With wooden beads tied into it
It flowed way down her back
Her skin was was roasted walnut and her eyes robin blue
With lips of crushed rose petals kissed with glistening dew

She wore buckskin and it held her body like a glove
When she moved was like a snake
She was passion lost in love

She would lay out in the sun her body drinking in the rays
When I first saw her sensualness my mind was in a haze
Breasts like summer melons ready for a feast
Toes painted till they sparkled
The sun rose in the east

She spoke to me of painted sunsets we laughed at crescent moons
She taught me to hear music in the trees
She said that sweet desire was the best of fire
And more than once shared honey like the bees

She saw me weep with wonder and saw me swoon with smiles
As she gave her tenderness to me
The drumming in her heart set her far apart
As cool as snow and warm as being free

She looked at me and a tear rolled down her cheek
She spoke of other places in her mind
That when she had to go
That I was sure to know
That she would always love me long as time

She told me that the world was better just for me
The universe I could hold in my hands
Sometimes she would dance as if in a trance
Wet with summer rain her dripping tan

I told her that my years seemed to be near gone
I told her that I yearned and long to know
The echo in a stream hopping over rocks
While it hide and seeks with moonlight's glow

She understood my thoughts just read between the lines
Then kissed me softly rose and she was gone
I awoke alone and somehow felt such peace
As if the troubles of the world had finally been released

Sometimes I think I see her in a field of soft green
Or flying with an Eagle strong and proud
But mostly in my heart I know her tender words
And screaming with great joy I yell out loud
The vast beyond and with it all
the earth unfolds a new
Burning Sky my only one I
Always will love you!
